Baseball Hats – Classics

Go classic.  While some clubs have been wearing the same hats for years, others haven’t.  There are some serious jewels out there:

L-R, from top left:

Atlanta Braves (81-86): Everyone has the Hank Aaron lowercase ‘a’ hat, so try this early 80’s version.
Milwaukee Brewers (78-85): A brighter verson from the Brew Crew.
Texas Rangers (83-93): Not a huge change from their current design, but still cooler.
Houston Astros (75-93): Wearing this with the roll of Life Savers jerseys puts it in the top 10.
Brooklyn Dodgers (1912 Road): A very unique look – be ready to answer questions.
Philadelphia Phillies (73-91):  I don’t like the Phillies, but I do like this hat.
Kansas City Athletics (1962 Road): Like nothing  anyone’s ever seen.
Chicago White Sox (1926 Road): Tall white tube socks.  The irony is obvious.
Durham Bulls (Doesn’t Matter): Such an awesome hat.  Crash Davis.

As a ‘Stros fan, nothing beats that hat… wish they’d go back to that design. Also, that Rangers hat is the design my cousin wore when he played for them (I’m not name droppin’, so don’t ask who he is).

Those are some sweet hats. The cooperstown MLB hats have always been my favorites. This 47-54 hat was used by the Reds when they used Navy Blue instead of black as an accent color.

They also have a version of the Reds hat from the Big Red Machine era. The wishbone C looks so much better without that shadowing they use now.

I’m with Paul. In fact, that’s the hat I wear most often (anytime it’s not a Texas hat).

I love the Tigers and I love “classic” baseball logos. Unfortunately, the Tigers never seem to change their logo or uniform over the years so us Detroit fans are relegated to the Old English D or nothing at all. Oh well, at least it’s instantly recognizable…

Thoughts on the official on-field caps (fitted hats)? I think old school unstructured hats are awesome as well but nothing beats a well broken in, shrunk to your head fitted cap in the team’s classic home or away style with a healthy curve to the brim.

Last year I lucked out and stumbled upon a deadstock made in the USA version of that 80’s Braves cap. On the cheap too! Love the royal blue over the navy they use now.

Love my Phils and that hat!
