Boot Shopping

It’s that time of year to start thinking about getting the boots out.  Yes – that means you have to wear socks.  Hold off as long as it’s bearable…

Clean up the ones you’ve got, and think about adding some new artillery to the rotation.  Depending on the type of guy you are, there are quite a few great new choices out there across the boot spectrum.  A few we’ve got our eye on:

Starting at top left:

1. Cole Haan Vincenti Cap Toe Boots:  The cap toe on these will help them keep their shape (instead of the traditionally unlined/plain toe cousins), and look perfect with a good pair of jeans and a sport coat.
2. Allen Edmonds  Haight Chelsea Boots:  Chelsea boots do not get enough play, but these should make you do a double-take.  Starting with a Dianite sole, comfort won’t be an issue.  Otherwise – treat them just like dress shoes (shoe trees, polished, etc.) and use them interchangeably with your cap toes.  Try these dark brown jobs with medium gray trousers.  You won’t disappoint.
3.  Alden Sand Suede Indy Boots:  The famed Indy boots are as good as they come, but how about sand suede?  Imagine these after a hard Fall and Winter.  They just may be perfect…
4. Red Wing Beckman Moccasin Boots:  Leaning towards the ‘dressier’ side than what Red Wing is known for, they are still tough as nails.  Have fun breaking them in.
5. Lucchese  Ostrich Barnwood Boots:  Add an exotic leather to your cowboy boot rotation, but treat them like you would any other boot.  Remember – just because the leather is exotic doesn’t mean it isn’t as tough as calfskin.  Wear these well.
6.  Billy Reid Chocolate Griffin Roper:  The big brother to the famed Kentwood.  Italian made, but with a lug sole and rougher leather upper, it’s a little tougher…a little meaner.

I love my Kentwoods, but those Griffins look pretty awesome too.

Love those Billy Reid’s. What about Blundstone’s? I’ve had one pair and they’ve lasted for years and still look great.

I think simple is better when it comes to Chukka’s. I prefer the Alden “Snuff” boots over the Colehaan’s which you did a post on a couple years ago.

I might be partial as a Texan, but those ostrich Lucchese boots are mighty sharp. Great color.
