For Discussion: The Baracuta Jacket

Where are we with the Baracuta jacket?  I know all the AAAC folks are fans, but is the general population?  Do you have one of the G9s?  If so, how do you wear it?  Let’s chat…

I actually wore mine today, and I regularly get compliments on it. I love the style and believe that it’s something that can worn during the commute to work, and also on the weekend. I love the versatility.

Snagged older F&S model while thrifting a while back.  It’s a good look with khakis or jeans on cool (but not cold) spring/fall mornings.  The wife was a big fan – probably because it had a certain Don Draper look to it.  I was actually hesitant at first but it works really well.

Stacy won the whole competition leaving Tony and Jay jealous and upset at
him. The two of you should spend this one on one time together at least a few times a month,
if not more. The film brings to life the story of three Venice Beach, surfers Tony Alva,
(played by Victor Rasuk), Stacy Peralta (played by John Robinson), and Jay Adams (played
by Emile Hirsch) in the 1970.

AAAC is very cool and useful, but it also can be something of an echo chamber–particularly the Trad forum.  $300-$400 for a jacket that, without fail, reminds me of the Members Only days is a hard no.  Although not nearly as “trad,” I go with either a fleece or sport coat, depending upon the occasion.

I have my Dad’s Braracuta jacket from ages ago.  Its British tan and a good light jacket for general use.  I’d never wear it all zipped and buttoned up like the guy in that picture though…wth?

I have a hybrid Baracuta from Levi’s that I like very much. Only about 70 bucks.

Have one in Dark Navy and absolutely love it. Weight and fabric are perfect for cool evenings or even a light rain. Cut is nice because it looks slim on a bigger guy like myself, and my thought is that it has a timeless look and will be just as in style in 10 years from today as it was 10 years ago. My go to light jacket.
