Miami in the Winter

I finished my first trip to Miami. I was down for business so I didn’t get to see too much, but I liked what I saw.

The view from my room – that’s Lebron’s house up the street (not that I follow the NBA – I think he plays for a team called the ‘Heat’).
Interesting sign in the hotel…iPhone cameras come in handy.
Above is the line at Starbucks in the lobby of my hotel – the ING Marathon had started about an hour earlier. I heard the wait was close to half an hour. The funny part is that there was a free coffee station on the other side of the concierge (where the wait was about half a minute).
I did eat well – had the Filet Oscar at Smith & Wollensky, and some excellent sushi at Doraku (pictured above). Everything was good – but I must recommend the Surf & Turf roll.
A few of us were able to sneak over the bridge to play at Crandon Bay. The above-pictured par 3 was about 170 yards of heaven.
All in all, I can’t really say much about Miami. I didn’t want to spend any time in South Beach so that if Mrs. Red Clay Soul and I go back, it will be my ‘first’ time. I can comment on the weather – it’s hard to beat high 70s and sunny in February.

I live in West Palm Beach (about 65 miles north of MIA) and our weather this winter has been beautiful! I enjoy reading your blog and as a southerner (geographically speaking), I miss Florida from 25 years ago where we were far more "southern" in lifestyle than geography. Keep up the great work!
