Sid Mashburn’s Back Porch

I saw this one-pager was featured in the June/July 2009 Garden & Gun issue – it was my first introduction to Sid Mashburn.

How about Sid’s porch?  I can’t think of anything better – truly an ‘outdoor room’.  Southerners are well aware how important something as simple as shade can be during the hot summer months.  A well appointed porch like this a ‘must-have’ on my list (Mrs. Red Clay Soul and I will probably be moving across town sooner than later), and this image is great inspiration.  I really like the idea of relaxing outside on comfortable furnishings while battling the best Mother Nature can throw at us.  That is what I call a real estate investment.

It’s definitely a great porch for either terribly hot afternoons or cold winter days when you still want to enjoy the outdoors. I guess I am just a fan of the traditional American porch… railings to kick your feet up onto, breezes, birds chirping, and a cold beer. Great pic.
