PMGN: Athens

Fun one against Kentucky this weekend. After the stress of last Saturday night, I’m not sure I could handle another nail-biter just yet. A noon kickoff feels like just what the doctor ordered. That said, don’t sleep on Kentucky — or any SEC team for that matter (looking at you, Mississippi State). Every one of them is capable of sneaking up and biting you if you’re not careful.

This weekend, let’s also celebrate the great town of Athens, Georgia. For Dawg fans, a trip to the Classic City is every bit as special as the game itself. Not to get too romantic about it, but Athens is one of my favorite towns in Georgia — maybe in the entire Southeast. A place with wonderful people, a rhythm all its own, and a style that’s impossible to replicate.

So here’s to another Saturday Between the Hedges — and to keeping the celebration rolling downtown well into the wee hours.

From Top Left:

1. Ray Ban Wayfarers:  As cool as it gets.  Kennedy-esque.
2. Athens, Georgia Old School Hat:  Wearing the shirt of the band you are going to see…forgiven here because of the old-school design.
3. B. Draddy Jack LS UGA Polo:  Good for the tailgate, good for the game, good for happy hour, and good for late night.
4. Tory Leather Shot Shell Belt:  Been rocking these for as long as I can remember.  Unbeaten.
5. Clarks Wallabees:  Put some miles on these bad boys.  Plenty of hills.  Plenty of bars.  Plenty of patina.
6. PMGN x Holderness & Bourne Banner Year Vest:  Be cool.  And be warm.
7. Pennbilt Plainsman Chinos:  Some pants that fit well, but not too stuffy.  Great for a long day.

2 is a cap not a hat. Great post though.

A cap is a type of hat so it’s really just semantics or preferences to terms. It’d be like me saying “that’s my car over there” and someone responding “actually that’s not a car it’s a Corvette.” The word “hat” refers to any hat that covers your head, with many styles boasting a brim or visor. A “cap” is a hat that comes in a specific set of styles, with an unshaped crown and (usually) a visor in the front.
