I have a Barbour Beaufort that I wear all the time. I had it reproofed earlier this year, and the good folks at New England Reproofers did an outstanding job. I’ve wanted to expand my Barbour collection for quite some time, and have been on the lookout for a Navy Bedale via Ebay, various fashion forums, and the like. One thing I wanted was the vintage Bedale with the flap pockets on the chest.
Well – I recently found this beauty and won the auction for $80 USD. The auction description stated that it was in great shape, just needed a cleaning and re-waxing – meaning that it had a distinctive odor and was pretty dried out. Well, they were right on both accounts. Regardless, the jacket fits perfectly, and should look great after sending it up to New Hampshire to New England Reproofers. I expect to get this back in about a month, and will post pictures after they have worked their magic.
One tear – on the left sleeve. Should be an easy fix.
I know this really is not the place to ask this, but I wear a size 38 jacket and am looking at getting a vintage bedale off ebay. In your experience, would a Size 40 Barbour be huge on me? A lot of people say a 40 fits like a medium. Any help would be great.
Thanks

40 fits like a medium, I wear a size 36 suit coat and a size 36 Beaufort, the Bedale is a little shorter than the Beaufort. Hope this helps. They fit boxy/kind of big.
Solid find, I dig blue Bedales.
JRS,
I noticed in one of your older posts that you had a “Classic” Beaufort with the Sylkoil wax finish as opposed to the “Regular” Beaufort with a different finish. I’m in the process of buying a Beaufort but the only difference other than the wax finish I have noticed between the “Classic” and the “Regular” is that the Classic has the original Barbour tartan and the Regular has a greenish tartan. In your opinion, which Beaufort should I go for?
Thanks,
SMT
