We are in the thick of it, aren’t we?
It’s hot out there. And the sun doesn’t go down until nine or so. While the late nights are great for some topwater bass action, planning for a date night takes some intentional actions. Mainly: dress light. Don’t lean into tech…it’s not what your better half deserves on a night out. Instead, go for lighter weight natural fibers. Linen, cotton…they breathe well. Especially in the shade.
Here’s what I like for July:

From top left:
1. Original Madras Trading Company Batik Shirt: A really cool lightweight shirt. Don’t be afraid of patterns. Not every night, but sparingly. Our friends have perfected madras and light cotton at the Original Madras Trading Company. And this Batik shirt…will…be…mine…
2. Warby Parker Haskell Sunglasses: Cool frames for a sunset view.
3. Cotton Bandana: I usually pack one of these in my back pocket.
4. Martin Dingman Perry Italian Grain Belt: Never skimp.
5. Incotex Chinolino Trousers: Chinolino (cotton/linen blend) is an elite option this time of year. Incotex has perfected it…keep one pair of these in the rotation. Get them cuffed with the slightest touch of break for a cool look with loafers.
6. Martin Dingman Bologna Italian Deerskin Tassel Loafers: These are like summer slippers…but dress shoes. No socks required.
7. Rolex 41 Datejust: Such a cool watch. For all of us who wear the 36 version, this 41 has become the envy. Not an upgrade, but a different look.
8. Beach Boys: ‘Endless Summer’: The perfect vibe for this time of year. It hits just right.
What did I miss?
