The other night, Mrs. RCS and I had a date scheduled. On the way, we stopped by Goodwill to drop off a few boxes/bags of goodies and decided to go in for a quick sweep as we were a bit early for our dinner reservation. As is our habit, she grabbed a cart and headed her way, I headed mine.
After going through the majority of the store, I was walking through the ‘home goods’ isle (with all the pots/pans/kitchen tools), and noticed something inside a jar:
Immediately knowing what it was, I flipped it over for confirmation:
Yep. A sterling Silver Larry Ellis trout belt buckle. I couldn’t believe it. Obviously I’d have to get over the high price, but I checked my bank account and saw that I could cover it.
In all seriousness, how cool is this? It’s not one of those old 70’s HUGE belt buckles that require a 1.75″ wide strap, but a petite (heavy) sterling buckle that is made for a 1″ strap, which I prefer.
Luckily, my friend Martin Dingman sent me down this strap a couple of years ago, and it’s been waiting for a home…
After some tarnish remover and some serious scrubbing, the buckle is back to new, and looks FANTASTIC on this strap. It should patina very nicely over the spring and summer.
Lesson to be learned: don’t forego the ‘home goods’ isle.
That may be your best find ever!
…This is mind-blowing. Great find!
VERY cool
This thing is going to reel in compliments – well done!
Well done..and earned! I’m jealous.
