I’m very picky about my cocktails. I’m not one to look at a menu and pick something funky. I enjoy Manhattans, G&Ts, and Pina Coladas. Outside of that, I’ll put a splash of Ginger in my bourbon or rum (try it), and that’s where I land with mixology.
On a recent trip to Intown, I was implored to try a concoction they developed called ‘The Southern Gentleman’. It’s a simple bourbon-based cocktail that uses ginger and citrus to complement. And compliment it does: it’s an easy-drinking, warm-weather bourbon cocktail that is extremely satisfying. Ladies: you’ll love these too.
Given that we are in Masters week, I thought I’d share with the Red Clay Soldiers:
Ingredients:
- 2 oz of Bourbon (We’re going with Blade + Bow because it’s delicious)
- 1/2 oz Ginger Honey Syrup (Tippleman’s is excellent)
- 1/2 oz Lemon Juice (about a lemon. I strain mine because pulp is disgusting)
- Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with ice
- Pour in all ingredients
- Shake it like a salt shaker. A lot.
- Pour over ice in a DOF glass.
These slide right down, so be careful… Some images to bring it all home:
