There are chambray shirts, and there are Chambray Shirts.
A Chambray Shirt is a must-have for any man’s wardrobe. In fact, more than one should be the case – one dress shirt and one for everyday wear. I came to know the Rivay team through JEP (of course). They create and sell some incredible pieces. One is their Albers Indigo Chambray Workshirt.
This is a top-shelf chambray shirt. It features a mid-weight Italian chambray, which while already soft, will only get better with age. The fit is classic, but not boxy. I don’t want to call it slim, but it does have a tailored feel. Beyond that, the details are really cool: the buttons have paint splatters. The front pockets and major stress points are reinforced. The collar is just right – while it doesn’t button down, it has a cutaway that looks very finished.
I brought the shirt down to St. Barth to give it a few spins. I wore it quite a bit – everywhere from bumming around the pool to eating lunch in town. It’s a do-everything shirt that is comfortable and wears well. I paired it with salmon trunks and Rainbows, and with Sid Mashburn canvas shorts and Tretorns. Sort of a ‘high-low’ feel, and it worked perfectly.
And something for you readers: use code RCS10 for 10% off your Rivay purchase, including this Chambray shirt.
Here are some post-wear shots. I love the creases…:
Almost $250 for an alpha-sized shirt that isn’t even made in US/England/Italy is insanity.
Yea that’s bonkers. I love me my Ralph Lauren chambray that’s about $100.
This is the shirt I would be wearing if I were lounging next to my $3,000 fire pit.
I don’t know how you find these places. I ordered two of the chambray shirts, the LR book for Christmas gifts and some hats. Thank you very for making us aware of these places.
