I first became aware of Lotuff & Clegg when Things Is Cool profiled their HoldAll CarryAll. Big fan. Their Leather Duffle Travel Bag was included in the RCS Fall Wish List. When I was asked to review their English Leather Briefcase, I jumped at the chance.
A little history – Lotuff & Clegg is a company run by two brothers (Joe & Frank) out of Fall River, Massachusetts. They produce extremely well-crafted leather goods – bags, totes, briefcases, and wallets. Guaranteed for life, and made in the USA – with pride.
Out of the box, it is obvious that the briefcase is an extremely high quality product. The feel and smell of the leather is top notch.
The leather is very soft – but sturdy. It’s not stiff – so it won’t crease.
No detail was spared – reinforced stitching and solid brass buckles.
The briefcase is ‘carry-able’. The handle is comfortable, and so is the leather strap. There isn’t any wasted decoration – it doesn’t need it.
The interior is very functional. The leather is thick enough that it will support a laptop. The middle (main) compartment has quite a few pockets – there is a place for everything. The front pocket is perfect for folders &/or legal pads.
It is a very handsome briefcase. This should be considered an ‘investment’ level purchase – one that will last quite a while. ‘Professional’ is another word to describe the briefcase. Looking down the road, this will only get better with age.
Great color and size. Look forward to seeing it age.
