My first venture into the nylon rope hat is from the fine folks at Sendero Provisions. These bad boys are absolutely awesome. That vintage style with a cool “Keepin’ it reel” patch, and the iconic rope. I’ve been fishing in these for a couple months now, and I’m not going to say that you’ll catch fish when you wear them, but can tell you with certainty that I’ve been ripping some lips:
I really like this trend towards the classic hats. Don’t get me wrong, I really like the old Masters-style hats (and have quite a few), but this move to structured trucker hats, corduroy hats, and these nylon rope hats are a really good thing.
Sendero has been doing a good job on this front. As for these nylon ropers, the bills come flat, and I don’t do the flat bill thing. I used an old trick I used to do before baseball season:
Bend the bill and stick it in a cup. These took some time to break in (about a week), but now they are ready to rock:
Head over to Sendero Provisions to get yours.
the reel question is did those bills hold their bend after you cup trick and some wear? Kinda a deal breaker.
