Can you smell it? Tour Visor season is sneaking up on us…. I’ve really enjoyed watching Keith Mitchell carry the visor torch on the PGA tour. It’s very appropriate, given that he’s the best-dressed guy out there.
I’m happy to report that we have TWO RCS Tour Visor drops scheduled. The options should scratch a few itches…I think you’ll like what you see. I’m adamant about the tall fronts, and no one did it like Texace. You can’t find these beauties anymore (outside of Ebay and Goodwill), and for the most part, can be had for under $25/ea.
Don’t be afraid of the old Texace visors. They are built Texas-tough. If you find one that needs a little work, here’s my full-proof recipe for getting it back in the lineup:
1. Largely speaking, everything except bleached-out sweat stains will wash out of a Texace visor. The best way to wash one out is to soak it in a swimming pool. The chlorine and water will wash just about anything out of the visor.
2. Once you have it where you want it, you are able to ‘shape’ the front back to its original high glory.
3. Hang to dry. It’ll be ready to rock in the morning.
It won’t look like the fresh, crisp tour visors that you see on tour, but more of an everyman’s visor. Some dents. Some dings. Old logos. Perfect. Great for the course, the yard, the lake, and a concert. Enjoy.
Here are a few excellent examples:
I had a really cool one in college that got lost on Bourbon St. I lost quite a few that way…
