Waxed Jacket Restoration

Some eye candy for you waxed jacket wearers…

For those of you who have asked, my go-to for any rewaxing is New England Reproofers.  They do the best job, including repairs, *some* odor removal, and the rewax.  Their prices are reasonable, and their turnaround time is great.   Enjoy!

Waiting on my 15 year old jacket to return from Barbour, rewaxed and restored at the pockets. Excited!

Let us know how it turned out and what the turnaround time was. My Barbour Bedale jacket is 14 years old and I’ve never had it re-waxed. I really dig like the patina, even if it’s worthless in rainy weather nowadays.

Orvis is cheap, easy, and fast turnaround especially in offseason.

Will do. My local Orvis is saying Barbour currently is “2 weeks behind their regular turnaround time,” so looking like 6 weeks for me. Orvis game me an ETA of early to mid Jan. Fwiw, I’ve had it rewaxed 3 times now and I’ve found it to be well worth the money, especially as I tend to wear my jackets pretty hard. This last time the front pockets were starting to tear and there was a small hole developing at the lower back of the jacket.

Who’s had luck with scent removal from older jackets? Sent mine to New England Reproofers for re-wax and odor treatment, but still has a grandma’s attic smell.

UPDATE: Just got the call from my local Orvis for my rewaxed and repaired Beaufort. The good folks at Orvis literally were beaming when they brought it out and for good reason– it looks as good as the new, never worn jackets on display AND has the added character of patches near the pockets and back where my adventures took their toll! The Orvis people remarked to me that a year or two ago, Orvis had a “Rewear” program whereby people could bring in their old Barbours and get a discount off a new one. In addition to the brand new, they also sold jackets that were restored, including some with patches, which apparently sold out more quickly than the new stock! Well worth the wait (I brought it to be repaired and rewaxed before Thanksgiving) and the money– which per the video goes to employees of the restoration facility and their families (although this Orvis store sent them to North Carolina for restoration.)
