If I were to get a Jeep to restore…it would be the Scrambler. Extra room in the trunk gives you more space for friends, dogs, and stuff. Why not?

I’ve had three Wranglers in my life, including my current 4-door Sahara. But I’ve always wanted a CJ-8.
Luv your blog. It is great. I had a CJ-8 in college. It was fun and worked well in snow and mud at our farm. It held its value well but was, as so many Jeeps of that era, a victm of road salt and hence severe rust over time. Still they were a fun vehicle.
Interested in the price of the 2 red Scramblers.
When I was in the Marine Corps years back I bought a 1981 Jeep Scrambler. Oriental Red. 4 cylinder engine. First thing I did leaving the lot in Oklahoma was to take off the doors, put them in, as you say, the trunk, then throw it in 4wheel drive and take it through some wet red mud. It stained the white top which I had to remove then spray paint black to cover the stains. I got rid of it because the motor was a piece of junk. I should have kept I and installed a small block v8. I miss that Jeep. Much do I.
