Honestly, my clothing purchases have slowed down over the last few months. I’ve focused a lot more on curating and purging vs. loading up. This is especially true with my hunting/fishing/outdoor gear. After seriously getting into bird hunting about five years ago, I went through the normal overbuy phase where I accumulated SO MUCH STUFF, but only find myself using about 25% of it.
However, I’m always on the lookout for some of the classics that will automatically find a place in the closet. You all know that I’m a huge Stand Up guy, and I’m always looking on Ebay for steals – especially the retired color options. In a recent search, I came across a pair of the Patagonia Legacy Stand Up pants. Michael Williams talked about these back in 2013 on A Continuous Lean. These were a re-do, inspired by the old ironworker pants.
They were my size, and have a little patina on them, so I made an offer ($60) and I got ’em. They arrived in great condition, and I’m super excited to use these in the quail fields and out chasing pheasants in Kansas later this year. The reinforced knees will be good for trudging through the brush with either my Russell Cavalier Crossovers or Snake Boots. And I love the two-color style. Reminds me of Bertha.
Here are the post-wash photos:
The good news: These will probably last until my sons grow into them. By then they should look perfect.
Hey, would you sell these legacy pants by patagonia?
