Red Clay Soldiers:
For those of you who’ve been around a while, you know what Red Clay Soul is all about. I can’t tell you how proud I am of what we’ve built together and the relationships that have grown from it. When I started this, I never imagined it would become what it is today.
From the very beginning, one of the guiding principles of RCS has been that this site would never be about me. I’m not a celebrity, and I don’t want to be one. This space has always been about us: our culture, our pastimes, our style, and our fun, all mixed together in that Dutch oven of the South.
That said, I don’t often share much of my own story here. Every now and then, I’ll dip my toe in with a post about goals, family, or life in general, and of course in the Ask Me Anything sessions. But for the most part, I’ve kept Red Clay Soul focused on content that’s less personal and more relatable to everyone.
However…
I love to write. And I’ve realized I have stories, perspectives, and ideas that don’t quite fit the format of the main site. Many of you have asked for that kind of content – content that stays in line with the RCS theme, but a little more personally relatable – and after giving it a lot of thought, I’ve decided on where it will live:
Yes, I’m late to the Substack game, but after talking with some close friends, I believe it’s the right home. Here’s what it means: the Red Clay Soul website won’t change a bit—it will continue with the same cadence and focus you know and expect. What will change is that I’ll be adding a weekly column available exclusively on Substack, distributed through their platform.
There will be a small paywall, but I’m keeping it affordable. The goal is simple: to create something for readers who truly want to be there. This is the next step in the evolution of Red Clay Soul, and I couldn’t be more excited.
The first column will launch on Wednesday, September 24th. Along with the weekly column, subscribers will get access to discount codes for RCS merchandise and other perks that I’ll be rolling out along the way.
