July 4th really snuck up on us here at the Fort. We’re celebrating locally, then heading out early the next morning for the beach. With the 4th falling on a Saturday, and with this being America’s 250th birthday, I’ve got to think it’s going to be a big week. A lot of red, white, and blue. Just as it should be.
I’ve always thought of the Fourth as multiple parties packed into one day. There’s the pool, lake, or beach scene during the day, then a shift into cookouts, cocktails, and fireworks at night. Same people, maybe, but completely different atmospheres.
And since I have no interest in sitting around in a swimsuit from noon to 10PM, I plan accordingly.
Here’s how I approach the day, and the night:

From top left:
1. Greyson Sport Shirt: I’ve gotten into wearing these quite a bit. I like the feel of the fabric, and the fit is just right. This is a go-to buy from any resort or golf course pro shop.
2. Sea Island Tech Hat: How many white tech hats do you have lying around? Now the time…
3. J. Crew Linen Shirt: A perfect alternative to sitting around in a sun shirt…that gets soaked when you jump in the water.
4. True Linkswear X Knockarond Dead Golfer Sunglasses: These are cool, and appropriate at the pool. You don’t want to lose those Garrett Leights at the lake…
5. Duck Head Sailport Swim Shorts: EXCELLENT swim option. The sail cloth is so cool, and dries pretty quickly. As we’ve all seen from Duck Head, they have their catalog dialed in.
6. G-Shock GLIDE Watch: I can’t say enough good things about this watch. I find myself wearing it quite a bit, especially in places where I don’t want to destroy my diver watch.
7. Rainbow Flip Flops: It ain’t broke…
8. Parkit Voyager Chair: Just came to know these guys…incredible.
9. Turtlebox Cub: Let ’em hear you on the other side of the pool.

From top left:
1. B.Draddy Jimmy Waving Flag Polo: “Wave that flag…wave it wide and high” – ‘US Blues’, Grateful Dead
2. Randolph Engineering Aviator Sunglasses: The pilot-inspired designed…feels very patriotic.
3. La Matera Mendoza Belt: Such a cool belt option. It immediately upgrades the look, and shows that you’ve been somewhere.
4. Rolex Sub: Now is the time to bring out the big guns.
5. Hudson Sutler Cooler Bag: They always say ‘you don’t need to bring anything’…don’t be that guy. Bring a six pack of beer and a nice bottle of wine.
6. Pennbilt Club Shorts: The best chino shorts on the market. A very cotton look, but just enough stretch to allow hauling ass away from lit fireworks.
7. Martin Dingman Monte Carlo Driving Loafers: Easy riders for an evening celebraing the greatest country on the planet.
What did I miss?
