Preseason Prep

With college football right around the corner, let’s get ready for the season by adding a few logoed pieces to the rotation.  Back in the day, we had to get our gear at Wal-Mart, a sporting goods store, or the on-campus bookstore. We didn’t have the options that are available now.

What’s even better?  Our favorite brands have taken notice and taken the plunge by offering licensed goods to the masses.  It’s much more attractive to show off your team pride wearing a fantastic golf shirt from H&B vs. a gas station brand.  Right?

I’ve put together a rundown of the great brands and use UGA as the example…but that’s not the only school they offer…they offer hundreds of colleges and universities…take a look:

From Top Left:

1. Holderness & Bourne:  New to the H&B lineup this year, a big collection of teams available on some of their best pieces (golf shirts, pullovers, hoodies, sweatshirts, etc.).
2. Onward Reserve:  OR has been in the college game for quite some time and has an extensive collection of options – especially for SEC and ACC teams.
3. Turtleson:  A GREAT catalog.  Don’t sleep on Turtleson, folks.  They make really nice, thoughtful gear that works for just about every occasion.
4. B.Draddy:  The cotton kings.  And they offer a bunch of schools on their gear (not just cotton).  One of my favorite pieces from B.Draddy is their Everyday Vest.  It’s one of the best on the market.
5. Criquet Shirts:  I mean, who doesn’t love the Criquet Player’s Shirt?  And with the college logos?  About as good as it gets, team.
6. Johnnie O:  A cool, California feel.  I like Johnnie O’s offerings…good for those ‘untucked’ days.
7. Peter Millar:  They boast 180 schools, which is seriously impressive.
8. Dick Fergusons:  Representing the hometown Men’s Store…they’ll offer a bunch of good options with some fun logos.
9. Zero Restriction:  GREAT outerwear in team colors.

What did I miss?

I’ll say it and I know he is a local UGA grad, but OR shirt fits are not good and the collar life is terrible.

I am a big fan of the Dick Fergusons logo options. The silver retro helmet is my favorite for UGA. I need to check out the Turtleson’s collection. We used one of their shirts for our highschool Booster Club shirts my son’s senior season and they were a great shirt.

I wish Criquet would offer the Collegiate collection in their shirt that has the pocket without the pocket flap. I picked up a few of those this summer and love that style offering.

Love all of those but especially the Criquet. Reminds me of the coaches shirts back in the 70s and 80s.
