Filson Zip Tote: Blue Jay

Sorry for the lack of posts lately…had a family emergency in Tulsa, followed by a bout of food poisoning.  Needless to say, this week is not starting off well.

While it’s no secret that I’m a big Filson fan, I recently saw a pistol case in a really cool blue color called ‘Blue Jay’.  I was intrigued.  One of the best parts about Filson is that they produce a line of very masculine products, but it’s safe to say that they are very uni-sex.  This Blue Jay color was something that a Filson aficionado like me had to explore.

Enter my good buddies at Steven Alan.  They held a Filson Event to show off a few new tote bags and some jackets that were made in collaboration with Filson, and they happened to have one of these beauties.  A Blue Jay zip tote.  I didn’t pull the trigger at the event, but over the holidays they had a few on clearance with an extra 20% off, I got this bad boy for just a bit over $80.  Not too shabby.

So here’s the thing.  When you think of Filson, you think about their Tan or Otter Green, and even Navy these days.  Now, think about Blue Jay.  The blue isn’t so bright that it could be mistaken for baby blue, it’s more of a lighter royal blue.  It’s a great addition that I’m pumped to use this Spring and Summer – perfect for the pool or for general toting.  We’ve already taken this out for a spin a few times, and it lives up to all the Filson goodness that we’ve come to expect, just in a lighter shade.
