I like New Year’s Day because there are some foods that give you an advantage. This is what we prepare in my house (and why):
1. Grilled Pork Chops – for progress.
2. Sauerkraut – for pro$perity.
3. Ginger Ale – no particular reason, it just tastes good.
4. Mashed Potatoes – for good luck.
5. Cooked Greens – for pro$perity (I usually don’t eat these, hence #2).
6. Black Eyed Peas – for more good luck.
Here’s to all of you – I hope you all have a great ‘twenty – oh – ten’!

Very nice! We do greens and cornbread for New Year's Eve (the wife doesn't like black-eyed peas). Maybe I can talk her into pork chops next time.
I enjoy your blog – Happy New Year!
Happy New Year! I had a similar new years dinner for friends that included:
1. Black Eyed Peas served over rice
2. Cabbage braised in spicy tomatoes and ham
3. Southern Greens (a great mix from traders joes)
4. Roast Pork Tenderloin
A great southern tradition on NYD.
