There has been quite a bit of good stuff lately out there in Blog-land. I’ve done some responses in the past, and thought it was appropriate after the recent caliber of work.
First: Run Of The Mill released their Spring/Summer 2011 line – seriously great looking stuff. Here are some highlights:
Spread Collar Oxford
Double Monks
Second: EAS over at Let The Tide Pull Your Dreams Ashore posted about wallets – a very timely post – considering I am in a state of wallet-transition.
I have been using the Colonial Littleton Front Pocket wallet. I really like it – I got it for a groomsman gift some years ago (the wallet has actually lasted longer than the marriage). The problem is that I need that front right pocket for my iPhone, so I have gone back to the Orvis Battenkill that was a birthday gift from Mrs. Red Clay Soul.
I like the Orvis model, but am potentially in the market for something else…suggestions welcome.
EAS also tagged Red Clay Soul for my top five favorite movies (I’ve never been tagged for anything before, so here goes):
(in no particular order)
1. The Big Lebowski
2. Caddyshack
3. Christmas Vacation
4. Godfather Part II
5. Bull Durham
Third: The image of my watchstrap collection has been reposted quite a bit from the Red Clay’s Soul Tumblr site – from that, I’ve seen some great stuff out there – particularly a post on these Ovadia & Sons Milford Double Monks in snuff suede:
This is probably the Nirvana of shoes – double monks and snuff suede. It’s no secret that I’m a big fan of both. I will spring for these – as soon as I find a place to order them. These C&J for Polo snuff wingtips have been getting a lot of wear lately:
Last but not least: some great photography:
Keep up the great work, folks.
I carry my Littleton in my front left and my iPhone in my front right. Really like that Orivs model but I might not ever go back to a rear pocket wallet.
Glengarry – Yeah, I have my keys in the front left and (now) my iPhone in the front right. I need to figure this out…I can feel another wallet-specific post coming.
JRS, I have been considering both wallets you mention, seem to be in transition myself. Currently using a Coach "front pocket" type of wallet. Just can't seem to decide on something I really like. I have the same problem, phone in one pocket, wallet in the other, then I don't want my car keys in either. Look forward to an update.
Thanks for playing along! I feel like The Big Lebowski and Caddyshack are two of JCW’s favorite movies too. I recently did a post on mens wallets and the Orvis wallets are so classic and I love that you can have your initials embossed! I am going to follow you on Tumblr…even though I am not really sure how the site works yet.
