La Matera has held down the fort for woven belts for a while now. When they launch new products, they don’t only add new color ways to a stellar lineup of belts, watch bands, and sunglasses straps. They buy plane tickets and head down to the source. After spending a few months in Argentina and Guatemala, they zero’ed on a design, moved it to production, and are launching it today.
Meticulously handwoven by Mayan artisans using a backstop loom, La Matera Limited Issue Guatemalan belts are vibrant, one-of-a-kind classic that get their uniqueness and character from the geometric designs and minor imperfections due to this traditional handmade technique. These are expertly hand-stitched onto a high quality leather that goes through a gentle conditioning process for a truly original look. There are two options: the colorful Estilo, and the blue Fuerzo:
The belts measure 1.25 inches wide, are constructed with 100% Vegetable Tanned Cognac Leather and imported Guatemalan hand-loomed fabric, and a nickel-matte solid brass buckle. Each ships in a brushed cotton drawstring belt case. Remember that availability is limited, and they always sell out quickly. Feast your eyes:
And some icing: how about these new sunglass straps made in the same vein? Head over to La Matera’s website and get yours today!
