Memorial Day in Charleston

My wife and I have a deep love for Charleston, SC. We have spent quite a bit of time there over the past couple of years, and have come to the conclusion that we would like to take residence there sooner than later. Over Memorial Day, we made our way across the low-country to pay our second city a visit.

Since we bring our dogs, it is inconvenient to stay in the city. Instead, we rent a house in old Mt. Pleasant, which suits us just fine. We’re ten minutes from everything. Each morning we take the dogs to the beach on Isle of Palms (off-leash until 8:00AM), and wear them out.

Of note:
Battery Park. We’ve been numerous times, and there’s always something new to see. The lemon flavored shaved ice is great, too. Red’s on Shem Creek – the beer is always cold and the scenery is excellent. Have a drink at the Library rooftop bar; guaranteed to see a Bachelorette party. Eat shrimp & grits. Spend some money at the Men’s stores (Ben Silver & M.Dumas & Sons; RIP Luden’s). Go catch some Redfish. Walk across the Ravunel Bridge. Sleep late. Enjoy the afternoon showers.

We never have enough time in Charleston. The only thing I missed was finding this belt:

I’m 99% sure it’s made by Leather Man LTD, and have been told it is available at the Ladies Auxilary/Confederate Museum, but we didn’t get a chance to stop by. Next time.
