This one has all the ingredients of an old-school noon Jefferson Pilot game. It feels like the ’80s…or maybe the ’90s. UGA is playing out of its mind, and Vandy is good—for now. They’re having their moment, which is fun, but I think we all have a pretty good idea how this one ends.
So let’s bring it back to the good old days. Get to the tailgate early and force down a couple mimosas, Bloody Marys, or light beers before kickoff. Head into the stadium, enjoy what we hope is a good old-fashioned slaughter with a couple of stadium hot dogs, then make your way downtown for the happy hour > bar food > late-night progression.
And the clothes should follow suit. Remember those cotton Ralph Lauren polos? The driving loafers? The chinos? The gas-station hats that somehow looked better than anything you could buy at the bookstore?
Yeah…it’s that weekend.

From Top Left:
1. Polo Ralph Lauren Pique Polo: The iconic gameday shirt in Athens. I remember having a red one, a white one, and a black one, and we just alternated.
2. Ray Ban Wayfarer Sunglasses: It ain’t broke…don’t fix it.
3. Gas Station UGA Hat: They only get better with age. At this point, our kids are stealing them from our closets.
4. Duck Head Slim Fit Gold School Chinos: The iconic chinos of yesteryear. All that’s missing is the big yellow tag.
5. Tory Leather Shotshell Belt: Don’t let this one sleep in the back of the closet. Let it breathe.
6. Timex Ironman Watch: We all had one. It took a licking and kept on ticking.
7. Martin Dingman Old Row Driving Loafers: Some of the coolest, most comfortable shoes in the world. With almost zero support, they absolutely held their weight.
