This reminds me of when I was a freshman in college and a guy wearing a pair of pristine Topsiders looked down with disdain at the beaten-up pair I was wearing.
“Gross, what’s that stain on your shoes?” he asked.
“Oh, probably fish guts,” I replied.
Many years later, I still go fishing and still spill blood and guts when cleaning the catch. And I still buy deck shoes for their performance and not give a damn about how they look with shorts.
