With Spring just around the corner, I’m taking stock of what I want/NEED coming into the warmer months. I like cotton before the humidity descends, I like yardwork, I like bass fishing, and I like the Braves. All of those scream ‘SPRING’ to me. To keep up with the times, I like to reload.
Here’s what I’ve got my eye on:
From Top Left:
1. New Braves Hat: New season, new hat. My OVER/UNDER on wins is 103. What you got?
2. Ralph Lauren Solid Seersucker Sport Coat: It’s hard to find anything cooler than solid seersucker. It’s a great choice for Spring, as it breathes well, and looks good with some wrinkles.
3. Tom Beckbe Tidewater Shirt: So light, and so good. Our Alabama friends just reloaded a bunch of their shirts (all of which are good), but the green plaid of this Tidewater is fantastic.
4. Holderness & Bourne Scott Cotton Polo Shirt: Cotton polos are the tops. Wear them as much as possible before that Humidity bitch shows up.
5. Orvis Guide Net: Bass fishing with my dad requires a net. This is a good one for the boat and should be sturdy enough for all the hawgs he’ll be pulling up.
6. Sentinel Ultra Stash Pouch: I’m obsessed with these – I use them with a tote/bag to hold my wallet/keys/phone while I’m fishing/baseball/golfing/swimming/pooling/laking/beaching/etc. I highly recommend.
7. Duck Camp 5″ Inseam Scout Shorts: I’ve migrated to the 5″ inseam Scout Shorts from Duck Camp. They are fantastic, and have just enough outrageous colors to get a second look.
8. Drake’s Paisley Tie: After a college life full of regimental stripe ties (and avoiding all the cartoon junk of the ’00s), I’m really into abstracts. And no one does it better than Drake’s.
9. Oakley Frogskins: Honestly, they fit so well, have a nostalgic feel, and are lightweight. And for the price, they are great with the kids at the pool/beach.
10. DeWalt 20V Max 12 Cordless Battery Powered Chainsaw: Our back yard is taking shape, and we’re getting to the thick stuff. We’re a DeWalt house, so adding something like this would make a lot of sense, and speed up a lot of jobs.
11. Trickers Tassels: Miller Brothers is offering these sand suede tassels from Trickers – they are a ‘sports car’ version of the Aldens, and look fantastic in the warmer months. HIGHLY recommend.
12. Grateful Dead LS T-Shirt: There’s always room for DEAD.
What are you eyeing?
Bravos going to have a big year and that hat is sick. Our club loves holderness gear but it doesn’t work for us big fellas. Solid list you have here.
Hammer the under
How do the H&B cotton polos fit compared to Sid Mashburn? Picked up a few of Sid’s popovers and love the fabric and fit. Trying to put more cotton on the wardrobe after years of polyester.
Love these posts.
really REALLY want the RL Seersucker but L, XL sizing for a jacket? Sketches me out
As it should. I tried on an alpha-sized sport coat recently at the Ralph Lauren store in my city. I’m a 42R all day long- the medium was way too tight and the large was just too loose and was not tailor-friendly. BUT, if you can make it work, they’re great quality.
You can find better options from Spier & Mackay and Brooks Brothers (beware of Brooks Brothers these days, very hit or miss).
Sid Mashburn also usually has one in non-alpha sizing. Ditto J. Press. Though not for $400.
I’m hoping Spier & Mackay will release another seersucker suit/sport coat this season. I missed out on them the past couple of years.
Go with Haspel – Originator of Seersucker suit. Started in New Orleans in 1909, I am from New Orleans, I have a handful of different colors from them as well. They fit great. Some colorways come in a classic or modern (slim) fit.
