Dates: December 9-11
Upland Inn Hunts
Greensburg, Kansas
Limits: 4/man (aggregate).
Day One:
The weather was cool, and the wind was somewhat down (~8-10mph with gusts to ~20mph). Everyone was jacked for the first few pushes, and we got to ~15 birds quickly. We pushed a couple more rows but came up dry. By lunch (~noon), we were at 19 of a 32 bird limit. Back to the lodge for lunch…back out by 2PM.
We landed on a honey hole, with ~10 birds hanging out in some trees/brush. We pushed them all out and got eight more within 20 minutes. Pushed the field and limited out at 3:30.

Day Two:
Much colder, lower wind. Pushed some CRP fields and hit the jackpot. Hit 15 on our first run. Continued to push the field, and smoked every ditch chicken we saw. The sun broke at about 9:30, and we continued to push CRP fields. The birds were very active…and slowed down when a front started coming in about 11 (and the temp dropped about 10 degrees in 5 minutes). We limited out at 11:45am and hit the road.
It was Heaven.

I really like this
Yessir, that looks like a fine time!
I’ve been going for five years now. Kansas never disappoints! We stay with the Brown family. They are great hosts and Tim always gets us to the birds. I’m looking forward to taking my boys!
