SEWE is one of those rare events that still feels rooted in something real.
From a Red Clay Soul perspective, it’s not about the spectacle or the shopping—though both are excellent—it’s about the convergence of culture, craft, and conservation in a place that understands all three. It’s camo next to cashmere, bird dogs on cobblestone streets, and conversations that bounce effortlessly from fine art to fly rods to where you’re hunting next season. SEWE feels Southern in the best way: unpretentious, deeply knowledgeable, and quietly proud of its traditions. It’s a reminder that the sporting life isn’t a costume—it’s a culture, and when done right, it shows up with purpose, history, and soul.
There’s no one more synonymous with Southern Style than M. Dumas, located right on King Street. It’s impossible to stop in CHS without dropping in. In celebration of 2026 SEWE, we’ve partnered with some of our favorite brands to give one Red Clay Soul reader an INCREDIBLE package.

One winner will receive:
- $1000 gift card to M. Dumas to be used on Duck Head merchandise
- A custom M. Dumas x Brackish Bowtie
- A set of J. Earl & Sons Rocks Glasses

My husband and I met at S.N.O.B. in 2007. Chef Frank Lee shared his love and passion for utilizing local ingredients in all of his dishes. Even though Chef Lee is no longer there he has passed his torch to one of the best, Chef Russ. SNOB is the best place in Charleston to experience the Lowcountry’s southern cuisine while learning about its history. SEWE and SNOB are ‘birds of a feather’.

If I’m picking a favorite spot in Charleston, it’s Tattooed Moose. Zero pretense, great bar food, strong drinks, and a vibe that never tries too hard. And I love M. Dumas & Sons for the classic menswear, attention to detail, and how effortlessly it all comes together.
My husband proposed to me on Zero Water Street, so it will forever be one of our favorite places. Charleston has our hearts, and we’re counting down the days until SEWE next week- complete with dinner at Husk and a shopping stop at M. Dumas, of course. 💛

Charleston just does food right, and Husk is always the one we come back to. It’s relaxed, consistently great, and feels like a true Charleston experience every time. And it doesn’t hurt having a new outfit from M. Dumas & Sons to go with it.
Walking the The Battery and then just kind of drifting up King Street is one of those simple Charleston days that never really gets old. No plan, just good views, good shops, and taking your time.
