It’s not often that I come across a store that is so unique, and so thorough in what they carry that it blows my hair back. I recently became familiar with Louie, located in South Weymouth, MA (basically Boston, neck deep in the same neighborhood as all the great American shoemakers – Alden, Footjoy, etc.).
Louie carries ALL the good stuff. They have the largest selection of Barbour in New England, they also carry Beckbe, RRL, Lardini, Herno, Purdey, Sunspel, Dingman, Globe Trotter, Alden…and the list goes on. They carry over seventy-five brands, all in the same band as the brands I just mentioned. Their website carries a small selection, but it’s a GREAT online destination to quench your retail thirst.
In looking around, here’s what I’m really digging:

1. Lardini Navy Swacket: Lardini rarely misses, and this ‘Swacket’ is a GREAT piece. Think of it as the dressiest casual navy sport coat you can own.
2. Sunspel Cotton Jersey Polo: Sunspel has an Italian/Miami feel and makes some extremely well-cut cotton polos that hit all the right notes.
3. Globe-Trotter Centenary Trolly Case 20″: I shouldn’t have to tell any of you about Globe-Trotter. Extremely nice.
4. RRL Slim Fit White Jeans: RRL jeans are some of the best OTR jeans on the market. You know, RRL is just plain cool.
5. RRL Waffle Knit Shirt: See above.
6. Barbour Harpen Gilet: A nice departure from the current vest lineup, and functional for the field as well.
7. Barbour Linton Tailored Shirt: Don’t sleep on Barbour dress shirts. They keep the same quality as the rest of their lineup.
8. Martin Dingman Bermuda Braid Drivers: I get asks about drivers quite a bit, and Dingman has all but cornered the market.
9. Alden Tobacco Chamois Loafers: Since Louie has a 70-year+ relationship with Alden (and Footjoy), they do some REALLY cool special editions. These are great examples.
10. Alden Shoe Trees: And never buy a good pair of loafers without a fresh pair of shoe trees.
