Our friends at Jack Donnelly are at it again. Their Small Batch program has become eagerly anticipated releases of their fantastic fits in some incredible fabrics. Their most recent release is EXACTLY what I’ve been waiting for:
These are 13-oz 100% cotton Japanese canvas pants in their 02 Straight Fit. They feature all the goodies you’ve come to expect from JD’s: on-seam front pockets, double-welt back pockets, a center back waistband (for alterations), military-grade buttons, and handmade in the USA.
For me, I’m going to have these tailored like utility jeans. Since the leg opening is 8″, I’m going to tailor these to work with boots (probably a 1-1.5″ longer outseam). From a fabric perspective, I’m not going to pre-wash these. I’m going to wear them and let them naturally stretch/etc, then I’ll soak them/hang dry once there is a need. I talked to Gregg about it, and he recommends that as a plan.
