With Summer now in full swing, I’m assuming that all closets have been flipped to articles allowing for the most comfort vs. the heat and humidity. I believe I’ve reached a place in my life where I don’t complain about the heat. I just adjust. I do complain about the humidity. I’m not built to let that go. With that said, I find that natural fabrics are a lot more comfortable vs. tech. Now, to be fair, I have tech, but wear it sparingly.
I also like lighter, brighter pieces to round out outfits. Shorter shorts vs. mom shorts. And sun protection. Here is what I like for this Summer:
From top left:
1. Blair’s Belt Mint Matte Alligator Candler Belt: You had me at ‘mint matte alligator’. Wow this is cool – for the golf course, on a date, work, church… Pair it with a linen shirt and short shorts, and you’ve seriously elevated your game.
2. Persol Sunglasses: I have a few pairs, but like how Persol has so many different options. And don’t sleep on The Real Real. They have a TON of Persols at less than half of retail. You just have to poke around.
3. Stetson Fishing Hat from Orvis: Orvis has become my source for Stetson hats. They know just the right ones to offer… This bad boy is great for just about everything outside…from the beach, fishing, park, or yard work. And the price is very digestable.
4. Linen/Cotton Sport Coat: The good news here is that you don’t have to break the bank (see this link). The key is finding the right fit, as an unstructured jacket will look horrible if it’s too big (Talking Heads) or too small (busted can of biscuits).
5. Cotton Bandana from Sendero Provisions: In an ode to my Grandfather, who always carried a bandana, I do as well. It’s nice to wipe sweat with this vs. my sleeve.
6. Duck Head Cotton/Linen Sport Shirt: Duck Head has crushed it this year, and their cotton/linen shirts are peak. They are cut really well – just right for over a swimsuit, or ironed with chinos for a date. I love them.
7. Holderness & Bourne Anderson Polo Shirt: My favorite shirt from the H&B Spring ’24 collection. It wears so well.
8. Duck Head 5″ Inseam Shorts: The shorter the better, guys. I love that I’m seeing more and more of you fight the 9″ BS. Let those thighs breathe.
9. Res Ipsa Kilim Loafers: The best. Once you own a pair you’ll know what I mean. There is nothing cooler.
10. La Matera El Coral Polo Belt: My belt friends have transitioned well to new ownership, and the new releases show. The La Matera polo belts are such a good add to any summer look. Built for sweat.
11. Martin Dingman Dawson Sneakers: It was a matter of time until Martin released a great pair of running sneakers, and the Dawson option knocks it out of the park. No socks.
What did I miss?
