Sweater Weather

With temperatures all over the place, layers are key. Here in Atlanta, we’ve had highs in the 20s and highs in the 50s—crazy.

So when was the last time you went through your sweater drawer?  Has it been a while?  If I may, I suggest that you go through it – all the way to the bottom.  There are the two or three you wear all the time, but what’s the deal with the rest?  Time to rip and replace?  If so, here are some fantastic options that are not only stylish, but affordable, and with high ROI:

From Top Left:

1. J. Crew Cashmere Crewneck Sweater:  One of the best deals in all the land.  Incredible price for the quality.  Worth one or two.
2. Holderness & Bourne Sargent Sweater: This has been my go-to for a couple of years. H+B has dialed in the fit, and the weight is just right—not too bulky for the golf course but not too thin to withstand the elements.
3. Brooks Brothers Tennis Sweater:  Everyone should own a ‘fun’ sweater.  Throw it on with jeans and Blundstones.  It works.
4. B.Draddy Finn Merino Wool Hoodie Sweater:  Hoodies seem to be sticking around – even in dressier situations.  This wool option from my friends at B.Draddy is a great option to have for those weekend adventures with the family, or for a mid-day round of golf.
5. J. Press Shaggy Dog:  The classic.  Get the most annoying color they offer.  Again – it works.  This yellow or Emerald Green is top shelf.
6. Peter Millar Crown Flex Wool Button-Up Sweater:  The new cardigan…  We’re all in on the ‘Shackets’, and this wool option is great with canvas pants and boots or dressier chinos over a white OCBD.
7. Alan Paine Shetland Sweater:  I got one from M.S. McClellan and it has shot to the top of the lineup.  It’s a lighter-weight shetland wool, which provides a ton of warmth without the bulk.  I’ve worn this with grey dress pants, and under my fishing waders as a warmth layer.  It’s the all-star utility player.
8. Greyson Tomahawk Cashmere Sweater:  Greyson is a really interesting company.  Some folks love it, some hate it…  For me, I’m not a big fan of the golf shirts, but their sweaters and outerwear are as good as anything out there.  This Tomahawk is no exception…
9. Vintage Ralph Lauren Sweater: eBay is a treasure trove for vintage Ralph Lauren.  Add one of these bad boys to your lineup.  It’s worth every penny.

Asket makes nice sweaters at a good price. Their regular is a slim cut, so size yourself accordingly.
