A recipe was passed on that is a big hit in our house. I like to call it the ‘Sunday’ burger. Here’s how it works:
Ingredients:
1 lb of Extra Lean ground beef
1 Onion (either Vidalia or Yellow) – I also like to add onion powder for extra flavor
1 cup Italian Breadcrumbs
1 Egg
Cheese (usually Swiss or extra-sharp cheddar)
Onion Rolls
*Whatever vegatables you like – lettuce, tomatoes, pickles…
To prepare:
Chop four 1/4″ full onion slices – not too small, but not too big.
Add the hamburger, 1 cup of the breadcrumbs, the chopped onion, and an egg into a mixing bowl.
Mix it well (use your hands…). The mixture will make three normal or two large burgers.
Cooking:
Grill at 350 degrees for about twenty minutes, flipping once every five minutes.
Garnish with cheese and whatever condiments you like – ketchup, mustard, mayo, lettuce, tomato, pickles… some baked beans, and a ‘heady’ beer… and enjoy!
This is a great alternative to the everyday burger. It has a more ‘mature’ taste, so I encourage all to give it a try.
*Couple of things:
1. These were made on Saturday (in the middle of some serious SEC Football action), so pardon the appearance.
2. Again with the Saturday thing – please pardon the dishes as well.
You are pardoned!
Great looking burgers – seems easy to make as well.
