Mrs. Red Clay Soul and I were out yesterday, and stopped by an ‘Antique’ market. Most of the stuff is dusted off clutter and over-Pledged furniture. A walk through the isles usually takes no more than twenty minutes.
Every once in a while, we find a gem. This was one of those gems – a restored industrial drafting table. To say it is ‘full size’ is an understatement – it is huge; by all means able to accommodate a full size architectural drawing. The price was just right – $199 (which probably means we could have gotten it for about $175).
We went round-and-round – but ultimately decided to pass. We don’t have a place for it in la casa. Who knows, though…I may have to go see if it’s still there today…
I had one for years. Course I used it for drafting… Great piece of furniture. The birth of AutoCad is the death of true Architecture. I'm sorry but creativity does not happen on a computer keyboard. It happens with paper and pencil.
Might work as a island in a kitchen. Otherwise, way to big.
My Dad is an architect, so your picture conjures up memories of my basement growing up.
I've had the pleasure of buying and selling many drafting tables over the years and I must say… this is an excellent piece. I would definitely recommend going back and purchasing this for the price. It's a bargain. Worst case scenario you could sell it and make at least $100
