Winter Layers // Holderness & Bourne

I am a 50-degree golfer.  If the high is lower than 50, I won’t play.  However, if the mercury is going to touch or get above that equator, then I’ll go out.  It’s all about managing the elements.  Obviously it’s chilly, but core warmth and a higher heart rate will take care of much of that.  Wind is fun.  Clouds are somewhat fun.  Sun is really fun.

When playing in colder weather, I show up with all sorts of options.  I’m serious about scoring, and don’t want my outfit to detract from the experience.  From the Holderness & Bourne perspective, here’s what I like to sport this time of year:

From Top Left:

1. Burton Long Sleeve Polo Shirt:  Don’t sleep on the long sleeved polo shirt.  Especially from H&B.  The collars are key here – they stand up like a dress shirt, so they look professional under a sport coat or a crewneck sweater.
2. Ashbey Vest:  An un-logo’ed version of the better sweater, which I would argue, is ‘better’.
3. Sullivan Snap-T:  My favorite pullover from the last few years.  They crushed it with this one, and the ‘heathered Harbor’ color is a good punch for the colder months.
4. Baxter Corduroy Pants:  A good cut for a pair of pants that are more suited to the elements.
5. Barker Belt: I mean…blue…
6. Swenson Jacket:  These hybrid jackets are great for playing.  They don’t get in the way at all, and still keep your core warm.
7. Shaw Wool Crewneck:  It’s a major flex to wear wool and/or cashmere on the course.  Major.
8. Treadwell Tote:  You gotta store all those layers in the cart…put this bad boy in the back basket and you are good to go.

What’s good about these pieces is that they work well off the course as well.  So if Mrs. RCS and the kids want to meet me for dinner after the round, or I need to make it over to a boy’s basketball game, I’m good to go.
