I’ve been on a big Anorak kick lately. I actually love the look, almost as much as I love the function. They are the perfect jacket for Fall. Light enough to wear in the cool mornings, but protective enough to shield you from the occasional storm. The issue has been finding one that fits in the chest with sleeves that don’t ride up.
Naturally, I look at the Fisher + Baker option, the Greenwich Anorak. This isn’t the shiny anorak that you’ll find for ~$100 at a sporting goods store. No, this one is the absolute top of the line. Constructed from Ventile cotton, a fabric designed for the Royal Air Force, and lined with merino wool, this Anorak is as luxurious as it is functional.
As with all great anoraks, the Greenwich features a front marsupial pocket that buttons and zips, along with two front hand warmer pockets.
The Greenwich has what Fisher + Baker call a ‘modern fit’. After wearing it a bit, I’d say that this is a slim fit jacket. The arms are just a touch longer to ensure that your wrists stay covered, and the length isn’t so long to droop. From a sizing perspective, I wear a 40-41R sport coat, and wear a size Medium in Fisher + Baker.
The cuffs, the waist, and the hood are all adjustable. The intent of this jacket is to get a good fit off the jump.
A nice feature is an angled side entry zipper, which allows for the Greenwich to keep a slimmer fit. It’s easy to slip in and out when using the zipper, and NOT look like you are wearing a parachute.
The anorak features an ergonomic hood with a stiff visor, just right for walking in the rain. The Greenwich is available in Navy Blue, Black, Saltwater, and Graphite (seen here).
While the Fisher + Baker Greenwich is an investment, it is the nicest anorak you’ll find. F+B makes extremely high quality products, so understand that it’s all there in a minimalist package.
