Love this and excited to see what is coming. You post a lot about Sea Island but I was wondering if you had any thoughts about another beach area of GA; Tybee Island? We are headed down there in about a month and I would love to get some suggestions on what to do and places to see. I know it is very close to Savannah.

Tybee is a great vacation destination, especially if you are into the small-town fishing village vibe. I’d recommend looking into cottage rentals (VRBO, etc.) off the beach. The main waterfront village is walkable and more casual than some of the other coastal Georgia resort towns.

Thank you so much. It is a family vacation and my Father In Law has already secured the VRBO. Can’t wait to get away for a few days. Is the vibe similar to Beaufort, SC?

Tybee is more commercial than Beaufort SC, to me at least. Have a great time!

Thanks. As long as the sand is warm, the water is cool and the been cold all will be well.

Man…they don’t make hotel pools the way they used to that’s for sure. A well done oceanside pool is a thing of beauty.

In the early 80s, when all the world was right, there was a hotel pool on Jekyll Island shaped like the state of Georgia. I have no idea if it’s still there and cannot remember the name of the hotel. Anyone?

That would be Stuckey’s Carriage Inn which I believe later became a Ramada and is now something else. Good memories.

Thanks CCE. Is it still there?
