Augusta National Stuff

This is the week that everyone will be clamoring for the new Masters gear.  Whether it’s spending way too much in the merchandise tent at The Masters, sending a couple C-notes with your buddy who has a badge, or scouring Ebay and overpaying for the Masters listings, that little yellow logo is worth it’s weight in gold.  I get it (here’s my schwag from this year…).

The Masters gear is awesome.  I have way too much, but I love every piece of it.  There is, however, a little up sell of that little yellow logo.  It’s the members-only Augusta National Golf Club gear.  The ANGC gear looks very similar to The Masters, but there are some noticeable differences: specifically that it doesn’t say ‘The Masters’ anywhere on it.  Instead, it says ‘Augusta National’, or ‘Augusta National Golf Club’.  This stuff is almost impossible to find.  Unless you have the chance to play the course (like my buddy TJ did), or know someone that is nice enough to get you a hat/visor, you have to get lucky on Ebay or perhaps an estate sale, both of which are extremely scarce.  In addition, you will pay a VERY high premium on Ebay for ANGC stuff.  Low supply and very high demand will do that.

Anyway, here’s a roundup of some really cool ANGC stuff.  Do you have something from Augusta National?  Send me a picture and a description (jrs at redclaysoul dot com) and I’ll add it to the post.

Smathers & Branson bringing the HEAT:

I actually have one of these shoe horns, and love it.

I would kill for one of these simple putter headcovers.  If anyone can source one of these for me, please let me know.

Blazer buttons.  I feel like wearing these might be a risk, as those ‘in the know’ would ‘know’ that you are pushing it…

And I’m lucky to have a few items.  A good buddy grabbed these for me a couple weeks ago.  I haven’t taken either out for a spin yet…as I’m completely content just staring at them.  My precious….

And this bad boy from Ebay.  I love it…old and dirty…basically perfect.

Again, do you have something from Augusta National?  Send me a picture and a description (jrs at redclaysoul dot com) and I’ll add it to the post.

More Goodies (4/14 Update):

An AWESOME story from reader RBC:

I was at a local thrift store here in Charlotte a few weeks ago questing to find a Scotty Cameron (no luck yet, just an Odyssey and some Vokeys so far) and came across the book The Making of The Masters. Curious about the book and with it being so close to this week, I picked it up and flipped it open. On the first page, not only was it a signed copy, but there was also an ANGC scorecard inside!
I will probably read the book at some point but honestly, the real reason I bought it was for the scorecard. The scorecard is dated 1/28/06 and they went 39-40 for a 79. Not too shabby.

Got anything?  Send it over and I’ll update the post…

Great post. With all things, it is the little things that make the biggest difference.

I have the members khaki cap with the front green logo and “ANGC”. Very cool gear. A very generous member hooked me up with it along with a tour of the club house and a drink on the balcony last year. It is incredible how welcoming everyone is.

Would you be interested in selling it by chance?

For collection great, yet to wear… it’s like wearing another fraternity’s letters. Best reserved for members to sport.
