It’s been a while since we High Fived. Sorry about that. I’m working on the gift guides for this year…I think you are all going to really enjoy them. For now, here are five things that can’t wait until then…1. Burton X Filson Wheelie Flight Deck Travel Bag: This may be the perfect carry-on. I like that it’s ‘somewhat’ structured, which doesn’t restrict packing like a lot of the hard shells that are out there. And you know you can’t beat the Filson fabric…

2. Brushed Wool Shetland Sweater from Drake’s: Drake’s is about as good as it gets. Most of their copy is related to their ties, but this sweater is outstanding. I’ve never been a big striped sweater guy, but this brushed wool shetland would get some serious play. Well done, folks.

3. The Revenant by Michael Punke: For whatever reason, a lot of the books I’ve been reading lately are being made into movies. I read The Martian about six months ago, and then saw the movie…it really put it into perspective. I just finished The Revenant, and wow. Just wow. I can’t wait to see this one.

4. Vasque Sundowner Suede Boots: I’m not sure how long these have been out, but the suede is about as cool as it gets. I’m a Sundowner guy…I’ve had this pair since my senior year of high school. Needless to say, they are a very good value preposition.
5. Southern Soul’s Brunswick Stew Recipe: I love recipes…well, Mrs. RCS loves recipes. We both love BBQ. The Southern Soul folks know what they are doing. Sharing is caring, folks.
Those Sundowners are killer. I had mine since high school, but my Mother threw them away “accidentally”. Still upset about it. But, I’ve had Skywalks for 15 years and they’re bulletproof.
Those sundowners are killer. I had a pair dating back to high school too, but they were “accidentally” thrown away…still upset. I have a pair of Skywalkers that are 15 years old and bulletproof.
Are the vasque boots any good for actual hiking or are they just for style? I know vasque is a known hiking brand but I want to make sure these will hold up on the trail. Also does anyone know if they’re too warm to wear for spring-summer hiking?

@Brad – You could find a pair on Ebay for a steal…or pull the trigger on those suede bad boys…
@Conner – I think they are outstanding for hiking. They aren’t as technical as some of the newer stuff out there, but these are built to last.
