Lowcountry Quail Hunt

There is a good group of us who attend SEWE.  A lot of the brands I talk about here on RCS make their way down to the Lowcountry in February for the annual Wildlife event.  This year, a few of us decided to go on a quail hunt the Thursday before the Exposition started.  Mark from Ball and Buck, Tom from Hook N Hide, Nat from Sister Sauce and I wanted to burn some gunpowder.

After some research, I booked us an AM hunt at Indian Fields Quail Preserve in St. George, SC.  About an hour from Charleston, this turned out to be a jewel of a place.  Everything about it was great.  The property, the birds, the dogs, the buggy, and the people.  All first class, with that Lowcountry feel.  I literally can’t wait to go back.

It was great to be in the field with such experienced hunters.  We all shot well, and actually ran into a couple wild bird coveys – which was a treat.  We finished off the hunt sitting and talking, and enjoying some libations.  Mark brought some equipment and documented the hunt…what a GREAT time:

Here are a few images that give the feel of the hunt:

Special shout out to Nat’s dog Mose.  What a stud.  First time hunting at this place with people and other dogs he didn’t know…and he crushed it.
