When faced with the challenge of hosting Thanksgiving, I took it as an opportunity to upgrade my grilling equipment. I’ve had my eye on the Big Green Egg for quite a while, but never had a reason to pull the trigger. Now I do. So I did:
The size Large Big Green Egg ready for the ride home. Safety First.
Cypress wood table from from Chrisler Woodworks in Fayetteville, GA. I used Cabot’s Australian Timber Oil in ‘Jarrah Brown’. Two coats.
Cast iron Bulldog Bottle Opener. Gift from the wife, courtesy of Pottery Barn.
Ready for work.
I’m planning on having a piece of granite cut for the work area of the table. That should be here in a couple weeks. I’ve got quite a bit of practice to do before the big day, but I have a feeling this was a very good investment.
Welcome to the Green Egg family .
Awesome.
Green with envy. Enjoy, and have a great Thanksgiving and a perfectly awful Saturday (Go Jackets!).
I say test drive it with a couple of Rib Eyes and I'll be over at 6:00PM ! 😉
After grilling on this thing you will never want to eat a steak/burger from a restaurant.
you totally made this happen, man. VERY nice setup.
DOTR has had one for about 10 years–we have that table, but I like the wheels…hmmmm, may have to see about adding those. The best thing he ever did was take a $100 "Pork U" class from Sam Huff at his farm near Harrison HS in W.Cobb. It was all day Saturday and he learned how to cook absolutely everything to perfection. He does the classes on the first Sat. of the month, I think April-Sept. Worth every penny.
What a great set up! My friends have one and they are in love with it!!! I hope you had a lovely Thanksgiving.
That is incredible. Job well, well done.
Can you tell me if the table was made for the BGE? Do you have the contact info for where you bought it? Now that you have been using t for a year or so do you still like the table? I also have a large egg I m looking to build a table for.
