The Tree Farm Experience

I got an invite to Tree Farm about eight months ago, and it took us that long to get a date nailed down.  To level-set: there is a list of courses that are a hard yes if the invite comes.  Tree Farm is on that list, and Mrs. RCS was very excited for me to go play.

I had heard all the fanfare, been a Zach/Buck Club fan for years, and finally getting my golf game into a good place.  After playing Tree Farm, it reinvigorated my already healthy love for golf.  It is the most fun golf course I’ve ever played.  Here are the takeaways from my experience, followed by a TON of pictures (including my merch haul):

  • Tree Farm is easy to get to.  200 miles door to door from Atlanta.  Lotta I-20.
  • The property has a communal, hunt camp feel to it.  I’m sure that will change once the clubhouse is finished, but it was a familiar, easy feeling.
  • The staff is fantastic.  EXTREMELY nice and accommodating.  Lots of great conversations.
  • The experience is the priority.
  • There are very thoughtful touches everywhere.  Navy Yetis.  BBQ chicken and pork.  Valet services. Turkey wraps.  Two logos.  The locker trailer.
  • There are coolers on every 4th-5th hole.  Beers, waters/(canned) Gatorades, candy bars, grape Uncrustables…etc.  Perfection.
  • All walking.  Very manageable.
  • The caddies are pros.  Listen to them.
  • Tough, but fair greens.  There are scores out there.
  • Bad shots are punished.  Good shots are rewarded.  This is NOT a grip/rip course.  You have to focused and calculating on every single shot.
  • Every hole is memorable.  One of the only courses I can say that about.
  • In terms of layout: it’s a mix of Atlanta CC, East Lake, and Tobacco Road.
  • Par 3 first.
  • Short par 4 18th.
  • The merch is extremely well thought out.  Nothing trashy.  You’ll want it all.
  • The experience will haunt you.  It’s unforgettable.

OK, I have no idea what this place is, but the logo with the tree and crescent is very cool.
