Christmas Catalogs

It’s that time of year…the Christmas catalogs have been filling up our mailbox. There is a lot of good stuff out there – here are some highlights:

Orvis Waxed Cotten Trapper Coat: Great looking coat. Orvis does a great job of adding that extra touch with the leather flaps and shoulders.
LL Bean – New Monogram Options. I’ll contend that LL Bean’s Trim Fit Oxford shirt is probably the best value out there. These monograms are only $6 per shirt.
J. Crew MacAlister Boots – It’s not the boots that are new, but the colored laces; what a great idea – I like them all: Dark Khaki boots with the red laces…oiled leather with the blue laces… I’ve never tried these on – how do they fit?

Why anyone would waste their money on MacAlister's is beyond me. Clarks desert boots are cheaper, better made and flat out look superior.

That Orvis trapper is where it's at, if I ever gave up my Barbour, it would probably be for that jacket.

Also, definitely with LAS here, but I must admit I have been contemplating getting some colored laces for my Clarks.

I think J Crew shoes are poor quality. I like the colored laces though. I have the Clark desert boots and agree with L.A.S

I'll probably pull the trigger on Clarks very soon. I need to decide between another pair of Wallabees (snuff suede this time…) or a pair of Desert Boots (gray). Either way – I'm getting the colored laces from J. Crew.

If you get an L.L. Bean Credit Card, monogramming is free.
You see this bag?! This bag belongs to BDB.

I've had my J. Crew MacAlister boots for over a year now and put them to great use. I love them! They look even better after breaking them in. The fit, however, is the downside. If you are looking for comfort, I would NOT recommend J. Crew. But if it's the look you are after, J. Crew by far has a more sleek silhouette than Clarks.
