Maison Pelican in St. Barths

Shopping in Gustavia, St. Barth is world-class.  The main drag is littered with luxury shops.  Literally, every brand you can think of.  Beyond that there are some excellent local shops and boutiques – most are for the ladies, but there are some men’s shops as well.  One shop that we stumbled upon took our breath away.

Off the beaten path, across from Le Select is Maison Pelican, which is an art gallery and an antique shop located on the second and third floors of a nondescript building.  It houses the coolest stuff we’ve ever seen – like Scott Antique Market on three Zyns AND ‘roids.  Each room has its own feel, but it all works together.  The art alone is worth stopping by.  The Aussedat abstracts and the Stewart faces are right up our ally.  The rattan furniture and rugs…perfection.  And all the other pieces pulled everything together.

It took a lot of willpower to refrain from redecorating our entire house.  Here’s why:
