It’s hard to believe, but American’s Birthday is just around the corner. Where has this year gone?
July 4th is one of my favorite holidays. It embodies all that is great: friends, floating in a lake, grilling out, Miller Lite, and obscene amounts of high powered fireworks, all in the spirit of celebrating the birth of our great nation.
To get you in the mood, we’ve teamed up with our great friends at State Traditions to get a reader completely set up in their America gear. One lucky winner is going to get a hat, a belt, the ‘Evolution of Old Glory’ t-shirt, and a performance polo. Yep, you’ll be ready to belt out some Lee Greenwood…
Here are the details: To get in, leave a comment with your favorite song about America.

TAPS, When I was a brand new Airman in 2010 I volunteered to assist with an Honor Flight tour in D.C. on the 4th of July. Towards the end of the tour we went to Arlington National Cemetery where there was a special ceremony for the WWII vets. At the end of the ceremony they played TAPS and there wasn’t a dry eye in the crowd. Seeing 80-90 year old veterans tear up really left me with a sense of pride in what that beautiful red, white, and blue, Old Glory stands for.
