Low Country Quail Hunt

This is the second year that we’ve gone and hunted at Indian Field Quail Preserve the Thursday before SEWE.  We did it last year (link), and were itching to get back.  I am hooked on quail hunting, and you’ll be hard pressed to find a better hunt than at Indian Field.  The Dukes family does such a wonderful job of making the hunt enjoyable.  The dogs are great, the birds are plentiful, and the camaraderie is top shelf.

One highlight this year: we hunted with a Boykin.  I’ve never quail hunted with one of these fine dogs, but it was fantastic.  Our Boykin’s name was King, and he was just that.  He has plenty of experience with duck hunting, but took to flushing and retrieving like a champ, or a ‘king’, as it were.  I got a few images from the hunt:

Here’s to a great hunt…see you next year!
