The Magic of Meltonian

Earlier this month, I pulled the trigger on the Terrance boots from Billy Reid.  One issue with the boots was the condition of the leather out of the box.  There was nothing wrong with it – it was just dried out:

After about five minutes of research, I decided I would give them two good coats of Meltonian.

Meltonian is a shoe cream.  The difference between cream and polish is that cream is less dense, and has some conditioning agents.  Meltonian moisturizes the leather, and provides some protection against things like salt stains, water spots, etc.  The application is easy – rub on.

The boot on the left has two coats vs. the untreated boot on the right:

And the finished product:

Magical.

I own and have used that Meltonian cream polish; it’s a good product. A few years ago while researching the best leather product(s) for a pair of newly purchased Wolverine boots, I discovered Montana Pitch Blend Leather Dressing. I was initially drawn to the fact that it’s an all natural product and supposedly did a great job of conditioning AND waterproofing. After a bit more research, and this video via Leffot (http://youtu.be/e9mCn4HbZDE), I bought a 4 oz jar. . I have since purchased the 14 oz tub, and use MPB on the majority of my leather goods (belts/wallet/jackets/boots/shoes). I highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a great, all natural leather conditioner that will provide a high level of water protection (again, PERFECT for boots). I have even read of some people using that Meltonian cream polish on top of MPB to get a nice shine on shoes, though I’ve never tried that myself. Anyway, just wanted to pass on some helpful info, as it took a while to finally find a product I loved.

Not only magical, but the color is just so much better. It’s almost gone from a dark gray to a gray/chocolate color, which I think is more appealing. They are good looking boots for sure.

They look much better after you got done with them. If I received them the way you did, I would have probably sent them back.
